As people recognized the reality of who Jesus was they called Him “Lord”. This phrase is loaded with meaning and shows us that they recognized even in Mary’s womb that Jesus was the One to whom they would serve. He would become their Master. Power. Few have it, the rest of us watch movies about it. We dream about having access to it. We imagine ways we would wield it. We have access to the most powerful being in the universe. Jesus is better than any superhero. He is not just a fairy-tale. The greatest person around is here to be your friend. Luke 1:32

No greater intersection in the world occurred than when Jesus was born. God became man and lived with us. There is not a greater event in the history of creation than the birth of Jesus. This great intersection gives up hope beyond our circumstance and beyond this life. God is with us.

When Jesus was born the Jews needed a savior. They couldn’t wait to be set free from the Roman occupation. They were oppressed, over taxed, taken advantage of, subject to another king. They wanted freedom that God had promised them. We have freedom today. We are free to live as we want. Do we even need saving? What do we need saving from? How can a man born 2000 years ago help me today?
